CDEC: Climate Data Entrepreneurial Club

About this Content

In future, the CDEC website will provide teaching materials and learning modules on the topics of digital, AI and (geo)data skills. The content focuses on the processing of climate data and the development of solutions to combat climate change.

Goals

The CDEC project addresses students in grades 10 to 13 and uses easily adaptable and expandable learning modules to train them in digital, AI and (geo)data skills. Data from European and German satellite missions such as EnMap, TerraSAR-X/TanDEM-X and the Sentinel fleet is used.

By working with geospatial and earth observation data as well as the self-effective maker approach, participants are encouraged and empowered to engage with computer science and data science and actively participate in the development of solutions to tackle climate change.

The project team attaches great importance to the dissemination of knowledge gained and exchange with politics, society and science. For this purpose, it activates a network of scientists, experts and educational policy stakeholders in order to embed the results in school and extracurricular education in the long term. During the project, hackathons and open workshops will be held to clarify the needs of the various stakeholder groups and ensure that the research findings are integrated into established structures.
