OpenRUB is the platform for freely accessible, open teaching and learning materials for all faculties of Ruhr University Bochum. The published teaching and learning materials were created as part of university courses and are presented in a range of formats:
The learning objectives are listed in the description of each learning resource. Some materials are licensed under Creative Commons and may therefore be reused and adapted. These materials are marked separately; the applicable licence is shown with the learning resource.

Would you like to publish content on OpenRUB, or do you have questions? We are happy to advise you and offer a dedicated publishing service.

OER are open teaching and learning materials made available to everyone online, free of charge and legally. As an author you can publish OER with no or only minor restrictions, and thus decide for yourself which rights of use you grant and which you reserve.
Publishing OER this way is made possible by open licences, usually Creative Commons (CC) licences. With CC-licensed materials, authors do not give up their copyright; the licence simply states directly what may be done with the material — and the original authors are always credited.

Openness is a fundamental prerequisite for the comparability and quality assurance of academic work. Digital media and content are used in teaching, study and research at universities every day — which makes it sensible to use and create open content.
OER are also part of RUB’s Open Science policy: the Centre for Teaching and Learning (Zentrum für Wissenschaftsdidaktik, ZfW) supports members of the university with advice and training on using, producing and publishing OER.
