As a rule, we only collect and use our users’ personal data to the extent required to provide the OpenRUB website. This is done in order to perform the task assigned to us (supporting teaching by means of eLearning) pursuant to Art. 6(1)(e) GDPR. Where we obtain consent for the processing of personal data, Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR serves as the legal basis.

Data processed

The following data are collected when the OpenRUB website is used:

Connection data

Storing connection data — in particular the IP address — is necessary for the system to be able to deliver the website to the user’s computer. The user’s IP address therefore has to be stored for the duration of the session. These data (connection data) are also stored in log files. We use the data to optimise the website and to ensure the security of our information technology systems. For these purposes we perform the task assigned to us pursuant to Art. 6(1)(e) GDPR. The data are erased as soon as they are no longer required for the purpose for which they were collected. Where data are collected in order to provide the website, this is the case once the respective session has ended. The data in the log files are erased after 7 days.

Contact data

You can contact us using the e-mail address provided; the personal data transmitted in the process are stored accordingly. The data are not passed on to third parties in this context. They are used exclusively to process the conversation. The data are erased as soon as they are no longer required for the purpose for which they were collected. This is the case after one year at the latest.

Social media

In addition to this website, we provide online services within social media and platforms for the purpose of further networking and communication (Twitter, Facebook, YouTube). When these media and platforms are used, the privacy policies and terms of use of the respective providers apply.

Rights of the data subject

If your personal data are processed, you are a data subject within the meaning of the GDPR and you have the following rights vis-à-vis the controller:

You may request information from us about the personal data concerning you that are processed by the OpenRUB website. Pursuant to Art. 15 GDPR you may request a copy of these data.
You also have the right to rectification (pursuant to Art. 16 GDPR) or erasure of the personal data concerning you (pursuant to Art. 17 GDPR), the right to restriction of processing by the controller (pursuant to Art. 18 GDPR), a right to object to such processing (pursuant to Art. 21 GDPR) and a right to data portability (pursuant to Art. 20 GDPR).

Where the legal basis for processing the data is consent pursuant to Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR, you have the right to withdraw your declaration of consent under data protection law at any time. Withdrawing your consent does not affect the lawfulness of the processing carried out on the basis of the consent up to the point of withdrawal.

To exercise your rights, please send an e-mail to the controller at the contact address given above.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority (pursuant to Art. 77 GDPR). For North Rhine-Westphalia: https://www.ldi.nrw.de/
